LaunchPass comes up often when Nigerian creators search for ways to charge for their Telegram groups. It has good content, a clean product, and real traction in the US and UK. Creators click through, read the features, and it looks like exactly what they need.
Then they try to actually set it up.
What LaunchPass is
LaunchPass connects Discord, Slack, and Telegram to Stripe payments and automates member management. Someone pays, they join. They stop paying, they leave. For a US creator running a Discord server with an audience paying in dollars, it works.
The product itself is not the problem.
Why it does not work for most African creators
The payout wall
LaunchPass runs on Stripe exclusively. Stripe labels Nigeria as "extended network" — buyers in Nigeria can pay through Paystack-branded infrastructure, but creators cannot receive Stripe payouts to a Nigerian bank account. To collect your money, you need a foreign bank account or a registered business in a country where Stripe operates fully.
That is not a workaround. That is a separate project. Most creators trying to charge for a signals group or a coaching community are not in a position to register a business abroad just to collect ₦20,000 a month from subscribers.
No WhatsApp
LaunchPass supports Discord, Slack, and Telegram. WhatsApp is not on the list, and there is no mention of it being added.

The ₦45,000 monthly bill before you earn anything
LaunchPass charges $29 per month plus 3.5% per transaction, stacked on top of Stripe's 2.9% plus $0.30. Total fee load is around 6.4% per payment, plus the fixed monthly cost.
At current exchange rates, $29 a month is over ₦45,000. If you have 20 members paying ₦5,000 each, your revenue is ₦100,000 and your platform cost before transaction fees is ₦45,000. That is 45% overhead on a community that is just getting started.

When LaunchPass is the right call
If you run a Discord community, have a foreign bank account, and your members pay in dollars, LaunchPass is a solid product. The automation is real and the setup is clean.
The issue is not that it is bad. It is that it was built for a different market. A Nigerian creator without a foreign bank account cannot receive their money. A creator whose community is on WhatsApp has nowhere to go with it.
